We are looking for an experienced Buyer & Retail Manager to join us at our London store in St. James’s Street.

As a vital component of our store, you will be instrumental in overseeing day-to-day operations, driving sales and ensuring a positive shopping environment for our customers. You will also make sure that our store meets its financial goals and customer service standards, including increasing sales, managing budgets and ensuring customer and employee satisfaction as well as planning for the new season and doing the buying for the Autum/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons. Daily orders with suppliers are a vital part of the business to stay on top of sales.

Objectives of this role

  • Overseeing daily operations of the retail store, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Leading and motivating retail associates to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Monitoring inventory levels, conducting regular stock assessments and coordinating with suppliers to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Implementing merchandising strategies to enhance product visibility and appeal.
  • Analysing sales data and implementing sales strategies to maximise revenue and profitability.
  • Ensuring a positive and customer-friendly shopping experience across the store.

Your tasks

  • Monitor and analyse sales performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Implement and enforce store policies and procedures to ensure compliance and a safe working environment.
  • Manage and motivate retail staff, providing coaching and support for professional development.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to execute promotional events and campaigns.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the retail team to communicate goals, expectations and updates.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, customer preferences and competitive landscape to drive innovation.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Knowledge of the shooting and country industry is vital.
  • Experience in buying and seasonal planning.
  • 3+ years of experience as a retail manager or a store manager.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail operations and inventory management.
  • Understanding of sales techniques and customer service best practices in India.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail analytics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team leadership.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on achieving sales targets and KPIs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Buying.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other retail management software.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce and online retail trends.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and holiday shifts.

Job Title: Retail Sales Associate

Location: St. James’s

William Evans (founded in 1883) is an established, industry leading heritage brand; looking for an outstanding Retail Sales Associate with a proven and strong customer service and sales track record.

The ideal candidate will have experience within luxury retail sales (ideally clothing). Someone with a country background/appreciation of country pursuits is preferred but not essential; though a keen interest to learn and the capability to pick things up quickly is vital.

Key skills sets:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An attention to detail in unique and routine tasks
  • A self-starter and an experienced team player
  • Proven track record in a high end retail environment

Ultimately your job is to give any assistance to the store manager to make the shop productive and profitable.

Some of the standard daily tasks will include;

  • Stock control management
  • Being customer focused
  • Being responsible for processing sales through the till system
  • Daily replenishment, stocking shelves and appropriate labelling
  • Dealing with customer enquiries and complaints
  • Noticing and reporting discrepancies and problems to the manager
  • Giving advice and guidance on product selection to customers
  • Keeping the store tidy and clean
  • Working within established corporate and brand guidelines
  • Responsible for security within the store
  • Keeping up to date with special promotions and putting up displays on the shop floor
  • Creating eye-catching displays and window dressing
